Shands Vista is the only licensed, freestanding behavioral health hospital within a 65-mile radius that is available to offer inpatient and outpatient services. In fact, we are the only facility in our district to provide both adult and child/adolescent inpatient beds for substance abuse, memory disorders, anxiety, depression, weight management and a wide range of other conditions. We average 240 admissions per month and an approximate patient stay of seven days.

Our specialty hospital is also a training site for medical students, residents and fellows in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida in Gainesville, as well as various other students in the Health Sciences disciplines. Attending psychiatrists, who also serve as university faculty, provide physician coverage at Shands Vista.
